Good afternoon, Greenville!
As we move into 2026, Greenville continues to welcome an exciting wave of new restaurants and major projects—driven in large part by the rapid growth happening across the Upstate.
With so much change underway, we’re curious: how do you feel about Greenville’s growth?
Let’s get to it!
RESTAURANT SCENE
Sassafras Southern Bistro
Price range: $23-$38
Right in the heart of downtown, Sassafras Southern Bistro focuses on Southern cooking done right. The menu leans into comfort classics but isn’t afraid to add a little edge—well-executed steaks, fresh seafood, and desserts that tend to steal the spotlight.
Locals know to start with the blue crab and pepper-jack nachos, a house favorite for good reason. The spicy pork tenderloin is another strong opener if you’re looking for something with a little heat. From there, the kitchen keeps things grounded and satisfying, letting quality ingredients do the heavy lifting.
Sassafras works just as well for a special night out as it does for an easy downtown dinner—reliable, welcoming, and consistently good.
Here's what keeps people coming back:
Blue crab and pepper-jack nachos that locals won't stop talking about
Fresh seafood brought in regularly
Steaks cooked exactly how you want them
Handcrafted cocktails alongside a solid wine list
Desserts worth saving room for
Prime downtown location perfect for before or after exploring Main Street

NEARBY ADVENTURES
If you’re craving a change of scenery without committing to a long drive, point the car north. Dillsboro, NC, sits just under two hours from Greenville and feels like a place that moves at its own pace—in the best way.
With a population of just over 200, this small mountain town is rooted in art, craft, and community. Set along the Tuckasegee River, Dillsboro’s creative spirit dates back to the late 1800s when visitors first arrived by train. That tradition still lives on today with the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad rolling right through town.
Spend time wandering the historic Riverwood Shops, where Appalachian craftsmanship takes center stage, and don’t miss Dogwood Crafters, a cooperative showcasing work from more than 100 regional artisans. It’s easy to lose track of time here.
Dillsboro also makes a great base for getting outside—think rafting, waterfall hikes, fly fishing, and scenic drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nearby Cullowhee adds bike trails and performances at Western Carolina University for a cultural detour.
