After our best pizza poll ended with most of you voting "none of the above," this runner-up spot deserves a closer look. The setup —about six tables inside, more outside. The crust comes out light and crispy, and they're using pretty good cheese, but the sauce just didn't show up for me. It needed more punch, more presence. I prefer a bit more cheese too, but that's the American in me talking.

Google reviewers give it a solid 4.8. I've had better pizza, but Belladina's has clearly won over many Greenvillans.

Greenville’s West End gets a flavorful new addition on April 20 when Cork & Cleaver opens its doors at 114 Markley St.

The menu leans into beef with steak flights featuring ribeye three ways — wet aged, dry aged, and Wagyu. A centerpiece of the menu is a large-format butcher’s board designed for sharing, loaded with a 48-ounce tomahawk ribeye, eight jumbo shrimp, a six-ounce lobster tail, two crab cakes, and two sides. The bone-in pork chop al pastor, topped with pineapple butter, is another standout.

Desserts will be made in-house — bourbon pecan bread pudding, French 75 crème brûlée, vanilla cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, and a chocolate peanut bar with milk chocolate mousse.

The wine offerings include 60 bottles and will expand to 100 as they broaden into French, Argentinean, and Italian selections.

We stumbled onto this gem by accident last weekend — and wow. Lake Glenville is about 90 minutes from Greenville and holds the title of highest lake east of the Mississippi. Tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains at 3,500 feet, it stretches across 26 miles of shoreline. It was still a little chilly on our visit, but with average summer temps around 83 degrees, this place is going on the hot-weather escape list. Bass fishing, boating, stunning views — worth every minute of the drive.

Lake Glenville is near Cashiers, NC, with Highlands just 20 minutes away—giving you plenty of dining and entertainment options if you're making a weekend of it.

What to eat & drink nearby:

Rent a boat for the weekend and make a full trip out of it — this cabin is a great home base. The nightly rate is not too bad for this place.
