Just a 2-hour drive from Greenville, Congaree National Park hosts one of North America’s rare synchronous firefly displays ( May 13- 20). Entry requires a recreation event pass, issued by lottery.

The 2026 lottery runs April 7–14, one entry per household, with a $1 fee to apply and $25 total if selected. Only 145 passes are available each night, and winners will be notified on April 17.
